Eine hohe Liquidität bedeutet, dass jedem Käufer eine Vielzahl von bereitwilligen Verkäufern gegenüber stehen und umgekehrt. Es beschreibt die Intensität und Leichtigkeit, um verschiedenste Finanzinstrumente am Markt zu kaufen und zu verkaufen. Eine hohe Liquidität ist sehr positiv für uns als Trader, da das Risiko von Kurslücken (Gaps) deutlich sinkt und fortlaufend Kurse gestellt werden können. Außerdem sind die Spreads auch geringer. Das Gegenteil von liquiden Märkten sind illiquide Märkte, welche für uns als Trader ein zusätzliches Risiko darstellen.
